New Albany, OH

Partially located in Licking County and the majority located in Franklin Country, New Albany is a thriving suburb near Columbus. This wealthy community has been named the “#1 suburb in America”. With factors such as low crime rates, great school ratings, and proximity to the closest metro area, it’s no wonder why New Albany received top ranking.

Founded in 1837 by William Yantis and Nobel Landon, small lots of land was sold to new settlers. Located in the Rocky Fork Creek headwaters, numerous creeks and other sources of water flow throughout the small community. During the 1990s, economic growth began to increase after the Les Wexner clothing empire and his subsequent mansion were erected in the area. This eventually led to extended freeway access in/out of town allowing commuters easy access to other locations.

Its Market Square, located in the city’s center, is home to many thriving businesses including the Rusty Bucket Corner Tavern, Starbucks, and the New Albany Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

For over four decades, residents celebrate Founders Day in May, showcasing street performers, vendors, a parade, and a festival. This, however, is just one of many annual celebrations. The 10K New Albany Walking Classic, the country’s largest walk-only race, brings in thousands of participants from Ohio and its surrounding areas every year. In addition, an annual culinary event, known as Taste of New Albany, draws thousands of individuals to sample various types of food from dozens of New Albany restaurants, all benefiting the Chamber of Commerce.

New Albany is home to more than 200 acres of parkland. In addition, the 1,200-acre Rocky Fork Metro Park houses horse and walking trails, as well as New Albany’s well-known dog park. This location is perfect for the New Albany Classic equestrian event, which raises funds for the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence.
